Voice of Training Participant

How can we make Nicaragua’s exports more competitive?!
We came to study Japanese brand and product development, as well as production management.

We are managers of the Export Promotion Department of the Nicaraguan Government or those of companies exporting coffee beans, dried fruits, honey, etc. We have participated in the JICA Trade Promotion Training Program for four weeks. In the program, we had lectures on how to penetrate the Japanese market, visited Japanese companies and conducted market research. At TASHIRO COFFEE, President Tashiro told us how he had overcome adversity by focusing on specialty coffee and how he had invested in human resources as they were the company’s engine. His story helped us learn about brand and product development very much. His knowledge and experience from purchasing coffee beans from neighboring countries of Nicaragua helped us learn the strengths and weaknesses of Nicaraguan coffee beans. Our visit to TASHIRO COFFEE was therefore very productive. We understood that pursuing the difference of the brands and products between Nicaragua and other countries works advantageously and promoting the recognition of Nicaragua is important. We will make the most of what we have learned in the future.

Voice of employee of the company visited

We have the same wish to “make things better”, although our countries and positions are different!

I am Kato of TASHIRO COFFEE Co., Ltd. Today, we had visitors from Nicaragua and received lovely key holders as presents. They were very pleased when I said to them, “I and our president are going to visit your country from tomorrow on business to purchase coffee beans.” Until now, participants from various countries have visited TASHIRO COFFEE. Among them, there were people from countries who I would never have had the opportunity to interact with in ordinary life and people with whom coffee has linked us. I believe they “comprehended” our company’s principle and what we think is important, despite the fact that our countries and positions are different. I realized that we have the same wish to “make things better” by talking with the participants about the “dreams we want to achieve through work”. On the other hand, companies’ roles and ways of communication are different depending on the country. I always learn a lot by experiencing differences directly through interaction with participants. Their positive comments are a very good incentive for me.
