After I participated in the “JICA Program of Managerial and Financial Support for Small and Medium Enterprises Development”, I realized again that the levels of support for small and medium enterprises may vary, depending on the country. I have learned that there are countries, where the credit guarantee system is applied (e.g. Malaysia and Thailand), countries without such a system being established, and Philippines, where the system exists, but does not work properly. The government of the countries such as Turkmenistan, where they have lots of resources, can use the financial resource for the investment; therefore their scale of support and categories that can be emphasized are different from ours. The policies, which are applied to support small and medium enterprises, truly vary, depending on the situation of each country. I also learned from this program that Japan has various schemes to promote small and medium enterprises. I am going to work out the most suitable policies for my country, Laos, by referring to those of the other participants’ countries and, of course, Japan. I would also like to interact with new people, especially, people from different countries always with an open-mind, and to learn their knowledge. It was my second visit to Japan. I am very pleased that I have learned a lot more than the previous visit through the lectures in Japan and the interaction with other participants from 12 countries during the last five weeks.
