This is a company in Higashi Osaka City with a 97-year history in copper processing and boasts a leading market share in metal parts for industrial batteries.
It has been working on 3S (organization, orderliness and cleanliness) for the last seven years. We have been visiting there in the seminars implemented by PREX to learn about its experiences.

“Before we started our activities, the workplace was covered in oil and so many goods in stock were crammed in the warehouse that you couldn’t move. It eventually became a situation where people could barely walk through it. With the 3S activities, we began with a sense of trepidation, wondering, “Is this the starting point?” and “What should we work on?” Eventually, after a year, we were able to hold a ‘family factory field trip session,’ so that the family members of the employees could see the workplace.”
These days, the company receives more than 150 field trip visitors a year from companies throughout Japan. The 3S circle is being widened by Osaka’s manufacturing companies, including Hariki Metal Industry. They have now reached the point where a ‘3S Summit’ is being held, as they promote the development of activities that lead to human-resource development and reforms in corporate culture through 3S activities.
