Dominican Republic- Proposing Follow Ups to JICA After Returning Home(March 31,2011)

Dominican Republic
Ms.Tomoko Yamaki, Executive Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Santiago [ACIS]

Ms. Tomoko Yamaki, from the Dominican Republic, participated in the JICA Seminar on Regional Industries Development through Public-Private Partnerships for Central America in fiscal 2007. Being of Japanese descent, she is fluent in Japanese and she served as a bridge between Japanese people and participants during the seminar. After returning home, she acquired a budget to carry out JICA follow-up activities, based on an action plan created in the seminar. Jointly with two of her compatriot seminar participants and through a connection with public- and private-sector officials, she implemented seminars to foster small and medium enterprises for cities in the north of the country. We expect that in the future, she will be active as a go-between of the Dominican Republic and Japan.

Tomoko receives a certificate for completion of the seminar.
