Presenting a seminar report to a Kazakhstan magazine specializing in QC

Serik-san, who came to Japan from Kazakhstan mainly to learn about quality improvement, reported on the things he learned in Altyn Sapa, a magazine in his country that specializes in QC, in December last year. We will introduce its content here, as we received the article spanning eight A4 pages, which were sent from the author, from the JICA Kansai officer in charge. During the extremely tight schedule of seven days of the seminar, Serik-san visited 9 companies, including those in manufacturing, food, logistics and services: Kawamura Gishi Co., Mitsumoto Rasenkan Kogyo Co., Daihen Osaka Japan, Fuji Mfg., Co., Takomasa Co., Konosuke Matsushita Museum, Senko Co., Sakai Sougo Taxi Co. and Yamada Manufacturing Co.

Yet he listed all the companies by name and reported accurately on what he had learned at each of them, such as their corporate philosophies, intention to meet their customers’ needs, 5S, food sanitation management, spirit of service, and so on.

Following Kazakhstan’s rapid economic development, with the country’s abundant natural resources in the backdrop, there were heightened needs for quality improvements in service businesses. Serik-san most frequently reported on taxis. He commented that he was impressed with the company’s social contribution with “caregiving taxis,” in addition to being part of a service that is meticulous with cleanness.

“такояки”: What does this Russian word mean? The answer is “takoyaki.” When Serik-san visited a takoyaki factory, he not only learned about total food sanitation management but also appreciated the taste of the dish. “I hugely enjoyed myself that night having takoyaki, which I received as a souvenir, with cup sake,” he wrote in the article. He finished up the article by mentioning Japanese people’s hospitality, consideration for the visually impaired and the cleanliness of the streets, factories, etc. Oops, I guess I need to tidy up my own desk!
