As someone in charge of finance, Mr. FARHAN is not engaged in specialized work duties in solar-power generation. However, he is in charge of conferences sponsored by the Infrastructure Development Company Limited and attended by NGOs and other groups that spread the use of SHSs. Soon after returning home, he apparently gave a presentation to his bosses, reporting on his seminar in Japan. Mr. Readwanul is in charge of spreading the use of irrigation pumps that use solar-power generation as their power source. After returning home, he organized conferences of concerned parties (parts manufacturers, etc.) aimed at unifying standards for the solar-powered irrigation pumps, which had lacked product standards. He apparently succeeded in getting agreement on unified standards from the manufacturers. (The importance of standard certification bodies is explained in JICA’s seminars in Japan.)

Interviews with the two were conducted separately. However, both basically agreed that, “We took part in the seminar where managers of renewable energy from countries around the world were gathered in a single country. It was really good to be able to share new ideas for common issues and the situations of other countries, which we had absolutely no conception of. We maintain contact with our friends in various countries worldwide to this day, and we’ve come to consider solutions for what we believe to be problems in our own countries.” I was impressed by their remarks.
