Two members of the Thailand PREX Alumni Association helped us to invited Thai companies and to arrange for visits to the local businesses, for Japan-Thailand Business Matching, which is introduced on pages 4 and 5 of the current issue. These two were Mr. Kriengkrai and Mr. Kraisak.
Both are management executives at private enterprises, and they participated in the fiscal 2012 Kankeiren ASEAN Management Seminar. This is a seminar in which managers from the ASEAN countries spend only one week studying management case studies in Japan. Seminar participants place a lot of importance on the links that they built in the seminar. They have apparently been creating opportunities to see each other in person, even for only short periods of time, as they travel back and forth from each other’s countries.
The two helped us out on this trip to strengthen the links between Kansai and Thailand. They were eager to forge links not just with their own companies, but among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kansai and Thailand, and have been actively assuming leadership and mobilizing others involved. The successes of business matching do not emerge quickly. Yet I believe that the activities by the former seminar participants will lead to the strengthening of ties between our two countries.
