Columbia , The spirit of Japan learned during the seminars

Mr. Wago, a Columbian of Japanese descent who has been in the Japan trade representative’s post of Columbia’s trade promotion organization since 2011, worked for a Columbian auto parts manufacturer at the time he attended a PREX seminar in 2008. He visited over 30 companies and organizations during the seminar that spanned three months, deepening his understanding of the actual management know-how, etc. at Japanese companies. In particular, aiming to draw up the action plan in order to improve productivity and quality at this own company, he learned flows from development to production, overall aspects of “Monozukuri” including quality control, cost management and delivery control, and various “Kaizen” methods including Toyota’s production methods, 5S, characteristic factor diagrams, etc. While his completed action plan produced results in the three stages of “hop, step and jump,” its activities had big expectations in his own country, due to its content that gradually encompassed its surrounding environment. Later, Mr. Wago threw himself into work that linked Japan with Columbia. In addition to seminars and lecture events, in order to vitalize trade and business between the two countries, his Japan office is apparently engaged in work on information sharing in Columbia’s various sectors.

“I’ve been able to absorb all sorts of information, including Japanese business culture, the knowledge behind productivity improvements (“Kaizen”) and improving Japanese language abilities through the PREX seminars,” reports Mr. Wago. “This experience had an immeasurably important effect on my growth later on.”
