Mr. Sai Hla Htwe is always smiling and has a calm character which is liked by everyone.
He participated in the ASEAN Management Seminar, Kansai Economic Federation in 2017. This time we visited his company when we went to Myanmar.
After about a one-hour journey through bumpy roads by car from Yangon City, we arrived at his factory which was amazingly tidy. His company used to be the one and only company which dealt with electric components in Myanmar until 2012; therefore, many groups of inspectors from overseas, such as JETRO, have visited there. The factory which we visited had been established as a joint venture with a Japanese company that had been one of the inspectors.
In the factory we saw young employees making components and printing on metal plates, sitting neatly in narrow spaces. They were working with intense concentration without talking, and we were stunned by the high quality of their work. Inside of the factory was very clean, and posters written “5s” and “kaizen” were here and there. There were also training rooms for the employees, and new workers were having training on that day.
In the factory 320 people work. The company has good employee benefits and organizes sports days and company trips. Sai told us, “The management of the factory has been going well, and our employees are happy to work here. I appreciate the guidance provided by Japanese companies.”
At lunch they provided us Japanese lunch boxes which expatriates from Japanese companies usually eat. It was May when mango fruits grew in abundance in the factory site, so we could eat them at the tastiest time of the year.

- The factory has many visitors from Cambodia and overseas as a model factory in Cambodia. There were yellow lines for visitors not to enter for their safety.
