HEANG Vattey Sourire Pro and Art Co., Ltd / Participated in JICA Practical Training on Japanese Style Management 2015 and JICA Training for Entrepreneurs 2017

The theme of the course was Japanese-style business management, in particular 5S and Kaizen as main subjects. She eagerly listened to the talks of the managers from Japanese companies with other Cambodian businessmen who play important roles in the business of Cambodia. After returning to Cambodia, she established a company specializing in promotion and design of products, using her network from Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center and her knowledge which she learned in Japan. Her dream is to nurture young artists.

She enthusiastically told me, “In Cambodia we lost so many things due to the genocide by the Pol Pot regime. Khmer arts are one of those which we lost. I would like to create a place where artists can gather, maintaining the characteristics of Khmer arts.” I visited her company for the first time when I went on a business trip to Cambodia. Her office has a very relaxing and nice atmosphere. She told me that she was influenced very much by the office layout of Acroquest Technology Co., Ltd. which she visited as a part of the training in Japan in 2017. Acroquest Technology received the Company to Be the Most Cherished in Japan Reward which is given to the companies endeavoring to create various systems for their employees to make the most of their potential.

Vattey was so influenced by the talk of Reiko Shinmen—vice-president of Acroquest Technology—that she took the office environment into consideration for her employees to make the most of their potential. She then made a café corner and space with plants in the office for her employees to relax. Her staff were working in a relaxed manner in a relaxed atmosphere.

There seem to be lots of opportunities to study in the seminars at Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) for young managers in Cambodia. Vattey joins in an early-morning workshop group of entrepreneurs. There is also a company owner kaizen group to exchange information about kaizen. A variety of opportunities are waiting for people who are motivated. I have a feeling that more and more businesses run by young owners will emerge.
