PREX Global Network Follow-up Seminar by Theme — Trade and Investment (December 2022)

PREX aims to enhance the PREX Global Network for all the participants of the training courses held in Japan. We held the 1st PREX Global Network Forum as an event for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of PREX in FY2021.

From now on we are going to conduct follow-up seminars every year to lead to holding the 2nd PREX Global Network Forum in 2025 when the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan takes place. To start with, we have conducted two follow-up seminars covering trade and investment, and Central Asia in FY2022.

This report informs you of the follow-up seminar covering trade and investment.

In this seminar, 18 people from 16 countries participated in total. They were among the PREX Global Network members who participated in the seminars covering “Trade and Investment”, “Export Marketing” and “African Trade and Investment” held by JICA between FY2018 and FY2022.
Although follow-up seminars of individual seminars were carried out in the past, there were no opportunities for participants to interact regardless of which training courses and fiscal years they participated in. With such background, this seminar has been carried out.
On the day of the seminar, the participants mainly discussed the issues which were opened up by Professor Goto’s suggestions in the short lecture. It was impressive to see their eagerness to exchange their opinions coming from their common background related to the trade and investment of their countries, despite the fact that most of the participants had met each other for the first time.
The results of the questionnaires for the participants of this seminar also show positive feedback and high demands for follow-ups for the participants who had returned to their countries regardless of which training courses and fiscal years they participated in. We are thinking and hoping to hold such seminars regularly in the future.
