PREX opened PREX Global Network Cafe!

Greetings from PREX to all PREX Global Network members.

Many of you reading this have likely attended the seminar organized by JICA or other organizations and are registered to be a member of PREX Global Network members (hereinafter referred to as PGN members).

The purpose of this network is to maintain the good relationships that you established during the seminars, which is why PREX is building a network among the seminar participants. This network will be used to promote understanding and exchange among the participants and Kansai, Japan.

We at PREX want to continue supporting you even after you return home following your training. This includes assisting you in implementing the action plans you created during the training and helping if you come up with any ideas related to Japan.

With these goals in mind, our PGN team has implemented various events. In this past six months, we started running “PGN Cafe.” The name of this event is “Cafe,” but as you can guess, it’s not a real cafe. Rather, it’s an exchange room we’ve opened using Zoom.

As the name “Café” suggests, we have held five small online exchange sessions so far, with the idea of “Let’s meet up and casually talk while having some tea.”

Although this is a new initiative, I would like to tell you about our activities so far.

Dates and countries where attendees are coming from:

1st time July 16th, Tuesday, 2024 7:00PM-8:00PM(JST)
Participating countries: Angola, Brazil, Ghana, Kyrgyz, Mozambique, Senegal, Singapore, Tanzania (8 people)

2nd time: August 27th, Tuesday, 2024 7:00PM-8:00PM(JST)
Participating countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal (3 people) and former PREX staff. We held this session specifically for the Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Seminar participants.

3rd time: September 27th, Friday, 2024 4:00PM-5:00PM(JST)
Participating countries: Nigeria, Myanmar, Senegal, Vietnam (4 people)

4th time: October 29th, Tuesday, 8:00PM-9:00PM(JST)
Participating countries: Singapore, Albania, Malaysia, Senegal (2 people), Nigeria (2 people), Brazil (8 people)

5th time November 26th, Tuesday, 6:00PM-7:00PM(JST)
Participating countries: Senegal, Saint Lucia, Papua New Guinea, Nepal, Myanmar (2 people) (6 people)

How did we do this?

The sessions were held as online meetings using Zoom.
Taking into account the time differences, we scheduled the meetings at different times, including evening, morning, and early morning, for about one hour.
The sessions were conducted in English, as it is the language with the most common speakers among participants.

We talked about various things such as the topics below:

*What is the most impressive thing about your stay in Japan? *What would you like to try next year? *What is your favorite or traditional drink in your country? Etc.

Now we are reviewing whether the contents and the method were suitable for you, the PGN members. As a result of this review, the style of the sessions may change, but we hope to continue these types of activities in the future.

Please feel free to attend if you are a PGN member. The door is always open.

We would be very happy if you could deepen your connections with other trainees and gain or exchange insights with other PGN members by participating in this PGN Cafe.

We will continue to post new activities on our website, so please check it out.
We hope to meet you again sometime and somewhere soon.
