La Asuncion
La Asuncion is a cooperative organization that carries out assistance for small- and medium-scale producers of crops and livestock in northern and central Nicaragua. For a three-year period, from fiscal 2007 to 2009, three staff members from La Asuncion took part in the JICA Regional Industrial Development by Public-Private Partnership for Central America Seminar. When we conducted our follow-up seminar in October 2010 in Nicaragua, after the La Asuncion members had returned home, they introduced us to their activities since coming back from Japan. We sensed their confidence from their remarks,as they described how they had gone forward with their activities while enduring some hardships, yet producing many successful results. We look forward to their future activities as a way to improve producers’ living standards.
