Training for Vietnamese Leaders of Japanese Companies
This year’s training course featured three key characteristics:
- Active learning among participants due to the increased number of participants
The number of participants increased compared to previous years, making the entire training course even more active. Opinions were exchanged energetically at the workshops. Many participants commented, for example, “Other companies’ approaches were inspiring,” and “Having more peers is reassuring.” The increased number of participants enhanced the overall value of the learning environment.
- Expansion of corporate network through the social gathering
Company presidents and supervisors from all nine companies that kindly sent participants joined the social gathering on the final day of the course. The gathering was a great success and served as a valuable opportunity for interaction among companies. In addition to the learning gained during the course, the gathering helped create new connections between companies, as reflected in comments such as, “It was a good opportunity to learn about the approaches of other companies in similar circumstances employing foreign workers.”
- Experience-based program in cooperation with the International Youth SAKAI (IYS)
This year, we cooperated with International Youth SAKAI (IYS) to implement an experience-based team-building activity at the adventure facility on Kansai University’s Sakai Campus. IYS is engaged in nurturing young people to develop a global mindset and an awareness of human rights. Collaborating with IYS provided participants with an opportunity to learn about teamwork not only through lectures but also through hands-on physical experience.
This photo shows an activity in which participants climb to a higher level
Climbers are responsible for challenging their own limits, while those holding the safety ropes are responsible for ensuring the climbers’ safety. At first glance, it may seem that only the climbers face a challenge, but the rope holders also bear a great responsibility, as they are entrusted with the climbers’ lives. Mutual trust is vital. Through this activity, which required reciprocal trust, participants realized essential teamwork values—trust, responsibility, and cooperation—all of which are also crucial in the workplace. They learned the importance of cooperating toward common goals while fulfilling their individual responsibilities.
In the future, participants will implement their action plans in their workplaces and share the results at the follow-up course in December. We look forward to hearing about these outcomes and learning how what they learned is being applied in their workplaces. This year, we also launched a streaming version of the “Basic Training Course for Vietnamese Employees” for a different target group. The streaming course is designed for employees who have been working for two to three years and want to learn the basics.
