Aiming to reduce the amount of floating particle matter in Xian City (Feb. 21 to March 3, 2013)

This project contributes to improving the air environment in Xian City by conveying the experiences from measures, taken against air pollution, that have been pushed by Kyoto City, which has a friendship agreement with Xian. This is a three-year project with the objective of further developing ties between the two cities. In light of the seminar achievements, whose theme was total air environment improvement efforts that were implemented from 2008 to 2010, a new project was launched with a three-year plan beginning in fiscal 2012, shifting focus to measures against floating particulate matter. A seminar in Japan was implemented this time and was based on information gained from specialists who were dispatched in July last year.

Participants visit the Kyoto Municipal Measurement Bureau. They confirm the role and significance of the bureau while looking at a map of the city.
