Ms. Shwe Sin Win
OKAYA & Co.,Ltd. Executive (A Japanese trading company in Yangon)
Participated in JICA’s 2015 Myanmar-Japan Center business course

Myanmar Japan Center, the place where we learn Business Human Resources and Business Ideas

I currently hold the position of a manager at Okaya & Co.,Ltd., Japanese Trading Company in Yangon. I have worked for this company since 1997. In 2014, I was introduced about the training courses at the Myanmar Japan Center (MJC). In Myanmar, there are private schools and organizations which offer Business management courses. The main reason I choose MJC is that I want to learn more deeply about Japanese style business management which I believe it is suitable to adapt in Myanmar for because the similarities in culture and way of thinking between Japan and Myanmar.
In 2015 October, I was selected from Myanmar Japan Center as one of the participants for the JICA study trip program. There were 15participansts for 2015 Study Trip Program. During two weeks training in Japan, we visited the JICA office in Tokyo, lectures and presentations at Relo Panasonic Excel International Co Ltd, factory visit to Tokyo Metropolitan waste landfill site, Suntory Publicity Service Limited, Tanaka Tec Co.,Ltd, opinion exchanges at Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), Monodzukuiri Business information Center Osaka and Kansai Economic Federation(Kankeiren). I learnt widely about CSR, Staff Motivation, Human Resources Development in the production sector, and Management Philosophy of Konosuke Matsushita, as well as about agriculture during an Internship Program at Kyoto Yamashiro Agri Partners-Inc, Wazuka Cho, Kyoto Prefecture. In addition, I learnt about Japanese lifestyle and culture during a home stay program as well as about the Japanese education system while visiting a Junior High School.
Back in Myanmar, I started to share and adapt seven principles of Konosuke Matsushita for myself and at work.
Service management, production management, HR developments are my duties and responsibilities at work. I adapted “the continuity of 5s”, review self evaluations of staffs occasionally, create a better working atmosphere by sharing ideas with juniors and letting them take part in leading roles.
As an alumni member of MJC, I am participating in Japan Center activities, sharing with other members, what we learnt in Japan, occasionally we do seminars for HR courses, practicing the Mobio café event which we think is helpful and should be introduced in Myanmar in the near future.
I share my insights of the Japanese Education System to schools in the countryside where I contribute as a volunteer in my free time. With farmers I met during my volunteer trips, I share the knowledge and the mindset of Japanese farmers. I do and will keep on utilizing things I learnt from Japan for my self, my working field and to my society.
I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to all the organizations and people in Japan for supporting/providing business seminars and lectures as well as training programs to Myanmar people through Myanmar Japan Center.
