Mr. ONPHANHDALA Phanhpakit Practical Japanese language education and human resource development are urgent tasks at hand
Mr. ONPHANHDALA Phanhpakit
Vice Director, Laos-Japan
CenterParticipated in JICA’s 2016 Business Human Resource Development Training (Savannakhet Province industrial park, Laos)

The Laos-Japan Center (LJI) was started in 2001. The MBA program began in 2008, and it is now entering its ninth term. Approximately 30 people are enrolled in the program each term, and there is a total of 286 graduates. There are two types of business programs – regular and order-made – and 5,145 people have taken it to date.

Currently at LJI, there has been an increase in the number of Japanese language students. Many past students were simply interested in Japanese culture such as anime and manga. However, looking forward, I feel that it is an urgent task to provide Japanese language education and human resource development which will enable people to work at Japanese-owned corporations. For the MBA program, currently many students are coming from private companies, so I would like to create business-matching opportunities between program graduates and Japanese corporations.

Although I had experience studying in Japan, this was my first time participating in training. During this training, we visited corporations and organizations and were able to see things with our own eyes. We not only visited large companies with cutting-edge technologies, but also small- and medium-sized enterprises that Laos could take hints from. It was just what I had expected.
