In 2005, I established my own company. Things went well when the economy was booming, but business started doing poorly after the Lehman shock, and I felt I needed to study business management comprehensively. Since 95% of our clients are Japanese corporations, I participated in the Vietnam-Japan Center’s “Keieijuku” from October 2011 to August of the following year in order to study Japanese-style business management. At “Keieijuku”, the topic of production control left the biggest impression on me. For one week, we learned theory and practical knowledge of production control at a Panasonic factory in Hanoi, and it was a very valuable experience. After that, I participated in training in Japan. Our visit to the Lion Corporation factory was especially incredible – the processes were completely automated.

Currently we are focusing on our translation and interpretation business in Southeast Asian languages geared at Japan. There has been increasing exchange between Japan and Southeast Asian countries, and our translation business is growing every year. Japan will continue to globalize as it prepares for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and I feel that the demand for translation will increase even more.

Vietnam cannot rely forever on cheap labor costs to be competitive. I think automation of processes will become necessary. Our company has invested in automated translation with good results. Out of all the Southeast Asian language translations that are being delivered from Vietnam to Japan, our company has the top share in Japanese and Vietnamese translations. The reason for our success lies in how we improved efficiency by investing in automated translation and using a combination of automated and human translation while other companies were still relying on human translation. In April 2016, we opened our Tokyo office, where I am stationed. I will continue to work hard to be a bridge between Japan and Vietnam.
